DO YOU - LOVE - YOUR WATER ??!!

Let’s talk water! We’re water based living beings - and as such - highly dependent on water. Water is SO VITAL to many critical body functions like digesting food, transporting oxygen to the cells, maintaining body temperature, absorbing nutrients, helping the body flush toxins, and very importantly here – H2O is 64% of our skin’s composition – working hard to rejuvenate the skin and improve our complexion!

Now, as we established that water is responsible for so much in our bodies and how we age – let’s see how it’s correlated with How Much Water We Drink and the Quality of water as well!

If we all know that water and the quality of water is so important - then why are so many adults considered dehydrated?  Our bodies just can’t operate at an optimal level without enough WATER! Dehydration slows down our metabolism and also inhibits our body’s natural healing powers. Chronic dehydration can lead to a bigger health problems like degenerative diseases, inflammation, constipation and so on…

Look how our water levels drop with age:
Fetus ~ 94%
Infants ~ 75%
Adults ~ 60%
Elderly ~ 50%

Along with the impact to greater health, without enough water, we’ll have more visible fine lines and dark circles and our skin won’t be able repair itself as usual!

While it of course varies with a person’s size/activities/diet/etc., a comprehensive EU study finds 1.6 liters (about 7 cups) for a woman and 2 liters (about 8.5 cups) for a man are highly recommended to drink EACH DAY!  This is outside of the water intake derived from wonderful fruits and veggies ;-) The study also found despite the lower energy requirement as one ages, the water requirement in the elderly actually becomes higher because of a decrease in efficient kidney functioning!

So let’s WATER TOAST – to our GOOD HEALTH – Bottoms UP!

Now for the QUALITY of water that we’re consuming...

First, we just CAN’T recommend plastic bottled waters! Think of the countless millions of harmful plastic bottles littering our natural environment, oceans and landfills! Next, think of the dangerous micoplastic contamination new studies have found in most bottled waters – along with other chemicals leaching directly from the bottles themselves!  And finally, look to multiple reports/studies, that bottled waters (despite their much higher price cost -$$$, energy production cost, high disposal wastes) are LESS regulated, tested, and hence often MORE contaminated that regular TAP Water!

Second, we just CAN’T recommend unfiltered tap water either!!! Even if your water looks, smells, and tastes just fine — is it?! Probably not…

Some more historically common and dangerous waterborne contaminants include: Aluminum, Ammonia, Arsenic, Barium, Cadmium, Chloramine, Chromium, Copper, Fluoride, Bacteria & Viruses, Lead, Nitrates/Nitrites, Mercury, Perchlorate, Radium, Selenium, Silver, Uranium.

But a new and less studied wave of contaminants include harmful: Pharmaceuticals, personal care products (PCPs), endocrine disrupting compounds (EDCs) and fluorinated chemicals!  Up to 90% of oral drugs pass through the human body and end up in the water supply… Synthetic personal care products (harsh soaps, cosmetics, fragrances, parabens, etc.)  are now in our waters. Endocrine disruptors are substances that may interfere with the function of hormones in our precious bodies! Well detected amounts of these contaminants are now in our waters throughout the United States…

According to a new report, nearly 77 million Americans got drinking water from systems that violated federal protections in 2015. Another study found water utilities across the country commonly found 267 different contaminants detected in their provided waters, of which:

  • 93 linked to an increased risk of cancer. More than 40,000 systems had detections of known or likely carcinogens exceeding established federal or state health guidelines – but which guidelines are not legally enforceable.
  • 78 associated with brain and nervous system damage.
  •  63 connected to developmental harm to children or fetuses.
  • 38 that may cause fertility problems.
  • 45 linked to hormonal disruption.
Our found solution is to SERIOUSLY FILTER your Water!!!  Do your research and choose carefully – and your filtered water can be 99.99%+ PURE of many harmful contaminants!

Since our inception, SanRe has used, and continues to fastidiously use, both reverse osmosis/carbon filters for all our drinking, cooking and of course skinfood production waters! Over the last couple years, we’ve taken the extra safety of final water purification through the Berkey black-filter/fluoride-filter system; and are sufficiently impressed to sincerely mention here!

Whatever your personal water intake and filtration route, PLEASE realize it’s vital importance and take H2O Seriously – for your greater Health and Your Beautiful Skin J
